MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Authorities in Dakota County are on the scene of a standoff in Hastings.
According to the Hastings Police Department, officers responded around 11:30 a.m. to a disturbance at Three Rivers Mobile Home Park. There, officials say a dispute between a tow truck driver and a resident took place.
Police recognized the resident as someone who has a current harassment restraining order. When officers told the man he was under arrest officials say he went back inside and barricaded himself in.
Authorities say the suspect’s wife and a few kids were able to leave. However, two children, ages seven and thirteen are still inside. Police do not believe the man has weapons.
Officers are actively working to establish negotiations and to ensure that the situation ends peacefully. According to police, their number one concern is to get the children out.
