NEW BEDFORD (CBS) — A police officer was hit by a car in New Bedford Thursday night. Police said it happened on Rodney French Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. while the officer was conducting a traffic stop.
According to WPRI, the officer briefly lost consciousness before being taken to Rhode Island Hospital but he was alert while being transported.
His current condition is unknown.

The driver did stop and is cooperating with police.
